STELLAN

About STELLAN

Women-owned, family-run, rooted in the coast.

A home goods boutique and an interior design studio, built to honor the traditions of a working waterfront and the makers who keep them alive.

Rooted in a working waterfront.

Erica & Stephanie, Portland

Portland, Maine is a community where the tides set the pace. Fishermen, dockworkers, artists, and makers coexist here in a balance of industry, creativity, and tradition, and the working waterfront is the Old Port's heartbeat. STELLAN was established to honor those traditions and the people who support this way of life.

We keep a small, considered shelf of pieces made to last, and we design the rooms they belong in. What we carry is chosen for how it wears and where it comes from, from makers we know by name. Nothing here is meant to be replaced in a year.

We are a women-owned, family-run studio, founded by Erica Biordi and Stephanie Peters. We run the shop and the design practice the way we would want them run for us. Honestly, and without rushing.

What We Believe

Sustainability, the whole of it.

We are a collective of artisans committed to sustainability, and not only the environmental kind. We hold ourselves to it in four ways.

Environmental

Natural materials, made to last, from makers who treat their materials and their place with care.

Social

The people of the working waterfront, and a shop that gives them a reason to gather. Everyone is welcome to sit a while.

Economic

Supporting local artisans and small makers, and doing business in a way that keeps this community whole.

Cultural

Honoring the traditions of the Old Port and the craft that has always lived here, and carrying them forward.

Who We Are

The people behind STELLAN.

Leslye Wark

Owner · Rehoboth Beach

A Delaware native who grew up enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the beach, Leslye's love of retail began long before STELLAN. She spent several summers as a young woman working in Rehoboth Beach, sparking a lifelong dream of one day owning her own store. After spending almost two decades working in commercial real estate, managing employees, sales, and operations, Leslye owned and operated a clothing business, which gave her the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship firsthand.

STELLAN is where all those experiences come together. For Leslye, it has never been simply about selling beautiful things. It is about creating a place where people feel welcome, finding pieces that bring joy to their homes, and building a community around the idea that our spaces should feel peaceful, personal, and beautiful. She is especially passionate about supporting local makers and craftsmen, women, and small businesses, and believes strongly in simply being a kind human along the way. STELLAN is, in many ways, the lifelong dream that started all those years ago in retail.

The Shop & The Studio

Two halves of one idea.

Be kind. Use your manners.

No matter what.

It is on our packaging, in our footer, and how we try to run the place. Come see us in Portland or Rehoboth Beach.
